Where Has the Time Gone?
Well look who’s back.
It’s me. I am the one who is back.
Hard to believe I haven’t posted anything on this blog for… dear lord. Well, let’s just ignore how long it’s been, shall we? The last couple years and change have been a bit of a journey, so to speak—lots of big milestones, lots of lessons learned, most of them good. To give the short of it: became a permanent Canadian resident; bought an okay starter townhouse on the fringes of Vancouver; took a long break from VFX to write some books; came back to VFX and have since worked on a handful of fun movies. I’ve also been cooking up another short film in the background of all that, though until recently nothing really ever escaped the idea phase due to how much other stuff I have going on. As of this writing I’m currently sitting in the middle of a half-dozen personal projects that each require a substantial of time and energy to get them to the finish line—time and energy I find myself lacking due to all of my professional and personal obligations, plus the fact that I now need to spend additional time each and every day taking care of my body lest I fall apart. Gosh, getting old is no fun.
Anyhow, I just wanted to pop in and say that I’m still here, and I’m still working on stuff as hard as I can. Once I have news on either the novel(s) or the next animation I’ll be sure to share it here. And who knows, maybe there’ll be more blog posts coming—I have been thinking it’d be nice to do a postmortem on the first short film, as well as talk about my journey writing a comically overambitious book. I’ll try and get to those sooner than later.
Until then, I hope you take it easy.
