In the beginning there was THE SUNDERING: a cataclysmic event originating from the world’s northern pole, the birthplace of humanity and the site of the hallowed ARCHMOTHER.  With a blinding flash and a whirling tempest, the people of the ancient world were instantly gnarled and mutated into the UNBOUND: grotesque, undead hybrids of flora and fauna, pure writhing life without limits.  The northern half of the world was transformed into an abandoned, ruinous wasteland as the Unbound poured from the pole, scouring the land, killing at will.  Those who survived were slowly driven south, finally finding refuge across a grand ravine in the southern half of the world.  Legends now speak of AMA-LASRIA, the primordial city, site of the sundered Archmother, a place of vast wealth and knowledge, now lost to time behind the curtain of a perpetual, supernatural storm.

A thousand years have passed.  In the modern age, industry prevails.  Great landships traverse the open plains of the vast landlocked continent like boats upon the ocean.  Planes and dirigibles control the sky.  Giant cities of glass and gold dominate the horizon.  All the while, curiosity for the northern wastes grows ever steadily.  Collectors, scientists, and fanatics charter landships, crewed with the best and boldest, to venture into the wilds to collect artifacts and explore the forgotten edges of the world.  These explorers, members of the EXPEDITIONERS UNION, answer the call to adventure.  Out on the great fields and mountain slopes they face pirates, the Unbound, and a host of mysteries and horrors just waiting to be discovered.
